Cathedral Avenue

Scribe completely reimagined this quarter-acre property in the idyllic Palisades/Kent neighborhood. What was a 1970’s stucco split level, complete with a low-pitched roof and faux wood paneling, became a “Mountain Retreat in the City.” Turning to the architecture of Highlands, North Carolina for inspiration, the vision for the home was to give it a natural yet dignified presence evocative of the shingled cottages of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Scribe took the house down to its studs, reimagining the interior footprint with a gut-renovation of the interior space, an expansion of the second floor and total renewal of the exterior façade. The home took on a distinct aesthetic while blending seamlessly with the surrounding neighborhood. Our design choices with custom cabinetry and millwork, high-end fixtures, and natural surfaces throughout the home are aimed at creating a timeless feel while infusing clean and contemporary sensibility.
